Reduce your energy bills and improve your home's efficiency with the ECO4 scheme. ECO4 is a UK Government-backed energy efficiency programme funded through major energy suppliers to help eligible households access heating and insulation improvements.

The scheme aims to support lower-income and vulnerable households while improving the energy performance of homes and reducing carbon emissions.

ECO4 remains available and is currently running until 31 December 2026. Funding is limited and availability can vary by supplier, installer network and location, so early applications are recommended.

What Improvements Could ECO4 Funding Cover?

Depending on your property type and eligibility, funding may support a variety of home energy improvements.

Heating & Hot Water Improvements

Funding may help with:

  • Replacement of inefficient non-condensing boilers
  • First-time central heating systems where no radiators currently exist
  • Electric storage heater upgrades for older systems
  • Air source heat pumps for qualifying homes
  • Solar PV panel installations for suitable properties

These upgrades can improve heating performance, lower energy consumption and potentially reduce monthly energy costs.

Insulation Improvements

Poor insulation allows heat to escape and increases energy bills. ECO4 may provide support for:

  • Loft insulation
  • Roof insulation
  • Floor insulation
  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Internal solid wall insulation
  • External wall insulation
  • Draught-proofing measures
  • Pipe, tank and radiator insulation

Better insulation can help keep your property warmer for longer while reducing wasted energy.

Additional Energy Efficiency Measures

Additional improvements may also be available where appropriate, including:

  • Heating controls
  • Smart or programmable thermostats
  • Secondary energy-saving measures following assessment

Recommendations are normally based on a property survey to identify the most suitable improvements.

You may qualify if:

  • Your home has an EPC rating of D, E, F or G
