The Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES) is a Scottish Government-backed programme delivered through Local Energy Scotland. The scheme supports community-led renewable energy and low-carbon projects across Scotland.
CARES is designed to help communities, charities and organisations develop projects that improve local energy systems, reduce carbon emissions and create long-term community benefits.
Support can include funding, loans, technical advice and development assistance to help projects move from early planning through to delivery.
Unlike household energy schemes, CARES is intended for community organisations and public bodies rather than individual residential applications.
